PK-12 Christian School in Maryland

Welcome to Holly Grove!

Welcome from the Head of School

Holly Grove Christian School began in the fall of 1976 with nineteen students, and today serves over 560 students and their families. For over 45 years, Holly Grove has provided a quality Christ-centered education to families on the Eastern Shore by offering a traditional program for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The school is located in a beautiful rural setting on 51 acres in Westover, Maryland. Students travel to our campus every day from as far away as Delmar and Chincoteague and the lower Eastern Shore of Virginia, with many families making use of our six bus routes.

Holly Grove Christian School offers a strong academic program. Our graduates have received millions of dollars in college scholarships over the years.  HGCS is accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and ACSI. I invite you to come and enjoy the family atmosphere!

We are here to serve you, so if you have any questions about Holly Grove Christian School, please contact me directly at mcurtis@hgcsweb.com.

Tuition & Fees

At Holly Grove Christian School, we believe that a Christian education is of great value and we want to make it affordable to as many families as possible. Each year, tuition is prayerfully reviewed and approved by the School Board. The goal is to balance the budget and offer an excellent academic program at the lowest possible cost. The rates for Holly Grove Christian School are lower than other Christian schools of the same size in the area.

The school embarks upon a number of fundraising and development initiatives and actively seeks parental involvement in these and other activities. In addition, gifts from parents, friends, churches, alumni, and businesses within the community allow us to charge a tuition that is less than the cost of educating each student.

Payment Plan

All tuition payments are made to and managed by our partner FACTS Tuition Management. Annual fees for a FACTS account vary form $0 -$50 depending on the number of payments selected. Families can choose to pay tuition in 1, 2, 4, 9 or 11 installments. A 2% discount is available to those that select the 1 payment option.

Early Withdrawal

In the event of withdrawal, suspension or dismissal from HGCS during the school year the following tuition and bus fees will be due. August 1-29 10%, August 30 through September 20%, October 30%, November 40%. December 50%, January 60%, February 70%, March 80%, April May June 100%.

Financial Hardship

Families that experience an unexpected financial hardship should contact the finance office immediately. It is our desire to work with you so that your children may remain in HGCS. However, school records will not be released to any institution or person unless the student’s tuition and fees are paid in full.

If you are a current HGCS family experiencing financial hardship, please let us know, so we can work together. Your situation will be held in strict confidentiality.

Financial Aid

A limited amount of money is set aside every year to assist families unable to meet tuition payments. The amount of the financial aid provided is based on the need of the applicants. This budgeted amount is established by faith - we believe God’s people will contribute money to help others.

The deadline for application is April 20th for the following school year. A determination of financial aid will be made by June 1st. You must re-apply for financial aid every year. All information submitted will be held in strict confidentiality.

Financial Aid Guidelines

  • Complete financial disclosure is necessary so that we can properly evaluate the request and offer recommendations.

  • Incomplete applications will be returned. Every part of the application must be answered and requested documents attached.

  • In some instances additional information may be requested to verify information submitted in the application.

  • Upon receipt of a financial aid application, the business manager will prepare a consideration packet for the financial committee to review.

International Student Admissions at a Christian School in Maryland

International Students

Since 2002, Holly Grove Christian School has hosted a number of students from other countries for a full school year.

During their time with us, students reside with one of our families, where they are incorporated as a family member, celebrating holidays and family events, experiencing church and everyday life, and developing their English-speaking skills.

The experience benefits not only the visiting students, but our domestic students as well.  Together they learn about each others’ cultures, build relationships and gain the understanding that God’s love transcends geographic borders. Visiting students mainly come to learn English, but by the time they return to their home country they have made life-long friends.

We work with a partner agency, American Home Life International, for many of our placements. If you are interested in becoming an exchange student at Holly Grove, please email the guidance counselor, Christy Scarborough, at cscarborough@hgcsweb.com.

Non-Discriminatory Policy

It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic, or other school-administered programs.
